Climate Crisis Talks - Deal or No Deal

Deal or No Deal

World leaders travel through blankets
Of Co2 clouds that now crowd
Across the sky’s busy byways
Crisscrossing heaven’s highways

To take their seats at ‘climate crisis’ week
To seek and tweak an agreement to keep
While fragile ice-sheets creak and seep
As they leak

The future is already bleak from tonne
Upon tonne of co2 gases spun
Forming a veil between us and the sun
The trail left behind of damage already done

While every cloud has a co2 lining
World leaders must now discuss combining
The issue of the climate climbing
With the political and economic risks of signing

To a target that could stop the non-stop shop
Of their economies from striving and thriving
Driving into a future that is fast, fast arriving
To world that is drying up, to a world that is dying

Polar bears cling on strong
To their hopeless fate
While the debate
Between economic wealth
Versus climate health
Rages on and on
In cyber columns
And newspapers pages

Ice shelves that have existed for entire ages
Quake, shake and break away falling
There is no time left for stalling
There is no time left for delay

So will world leaders lead the way ?
Will they take heed ?
Will they act with speed ?
Will an agreement be agreed ?
